Consultation Length and Frequency
All Consultations are between 1 to 1.5 hours long. Consultations are held as often as you feel is necessary to see me, while we work on your current issue, the frequency of your sessions will be discussed at our first appointment.
Fee Schedule – Your Investment in Yourself
The recommended fee by the Australian Psychological Society (APS) is currently over $285.00 per 50-minute session.
My professional fee is $150 per consultation (1-1.5 hours).
Your first appointment may be up to 2 hours. The usual length of my follow-up consultations is between 1 and 1.5 hours.
I strongly recommend and my clinical experience has shown, that most clients need a minimum of 2-3 sessions to develop the skills & flexibility to handle not only their current concerns but also future issues that life brings. Some clients may need many more sessions, especially those with longstanding or complex problems, yet generally speaking, most people begin to notice positive results following just the first session or two.
Also, please remember that your session fee extends well beyond the consultation time. The best therapists spend time preparing for sessions and thinking about your issues, even when you are not there. I may read books and do research about topics raised in our sessions, or may get insight into your situation while I’m out on my morning walk. I may also provide you with a journal and pen, or books, or printed material and/or other items, that I feel will be of benefit, created or purchased by me, and offered to you with my compliments during your therapeutic journey. This level of attentiveness makes the difference between really good therapy and your run-of-the-mill treatments. So why not choose a therapist who takes time to think deeply about you and your issues? It will be well worth it in the long-run…
For clients who are on a low income, a small reduction in fees may be negotiable. *A limited number of clients on concessionary fees can be held at any one time.
Cancellation Policy
If you need to cancel an appointment, there will be no charge if at least 24 hours notice is given. However, the full session fee will be payable if the cancellation is within 24 hours of the allocated time. In the event of non-attendance, and if you do not make contact within 48 hours to rearrange, regrettably your treatment space may have to be re-allocated to someone else.
Late Policy
If you are less than 15 minutes late, the remainder of the session will be able to proceed. However, if you are more than 15 minutes late the session may have to be rearranged with a cancellation fee payable.
Client Co-operation
Your commitment to participate fully in the process throughout the course of treatment is fundamental for reaching a positive outcome. It is essential therefore that you discuss any doubts you may have about the therapeutic process at any time. Although, as the therapist, I am there to facilitate the process of change, it is your effort that causes actual change. On occasion you may be given short written or mental tasks to perform. These are designed to be an integral part of your treatment, so your participation is essential.
Confidentiality Policy
I am legally required to comply with the Data Protection Act which sets out how confidential information must be handled. All information received regarding clients will be treated in the strictest confidence. This includes information gained directly from you in sessions, or from any third party and referral reports. I do make brief notes about our sessions which are securely locked away. You, as my client, can request to see these at any time.
Please note: The exceptions to exclusive confidentiality are:
- Where a criminal offence may have been or may be about to be committed or is the subject of an ongoing police investigation. In this case, I have a legal duty to disclose such information.
- Where there is significant risk to self or others.
Consent to Information Sharing
During the course of your treatment, it may be helpful to gain additional information from other professionals involved in your care. This will only be sought following a full explanation of the reasons and after gaining your written consent. Legally, I can only give or receive information if I have this proof of consent. If, for whatever reason, you do not give consent, we will need to discuss the continuation of your treatment. Please Note: Merely having your GP details does not give me permission to contact them.
Treatment and Service Reviews
In order to continue providing you with the most effective form of treatment, at an appropriate point I may ask you to complete a short written review to assess progress as part of our sessions. 3-4 weeks after the completion of treatment, I may send a short questionnaire for you to comment on the service you received. I would be grateful if you complete this and return it to me in the SAE provided. I may also ask for your agreement to contact you by telephone in 3 months time to assess your progress and to offer any further assistance if needed. Feedback from clients ensures continual improvement of the quality of the service and treatment offered.
Supervision
I undertake regular individual supervision. My supervisor is another qualified and experienced Psychotherapist/Hypnotherapist. Due to the nature of my work, this is essential. Any information regarding clients will be anonymous.
Ongoing Professional Development
I am committed to ongoing development of my skills and training. This takes the form of ‘Continued Professional Development’ in workshops, training courses and lectures. This assists me in keeping up-to-date with research and new developments in the field of Psychotherapy and Hypnotherapy.

Looking for my Testimonials?
I am humbled that such a large percentage of my new clients are referred to me by existing or former clients.
Their success is obviously my success. I have also received touching and profound written testimonials from many clients.
So, you may be wondering why I don’t publish any testimonials?
This is because:
- They are considered unethical by many therapy related bodies.
- They can be fabricated.
- The Advertising Standards Authority requires any testimonials to be verifiable and that would conflict with the confidentiality agreement I offer all my clients.
